OUR STORY

Great cattle are never created by chance.

They are the result of vision, discipline and generations of carefully selected genetics.

QT Boran was founded on this principle.

The stud represents the culmination of two respected Boran breeding programmes — Meybor Boran, established in 2007, and Princess Boran in 2013. Together, they form a breeding programme built on some of the most influential Boran bloodlines available in Southern Africa.

From the beginning, the objective was never simply to breed cattle. The goal was to build a registered Boran stud that embodies the qualities that have made the Boran one of Africa's most respected beef breeds: fertility, adaptability, longevity, efficiency and structural soundness.

Princess Boran

Established in 2013, Princess Boran was registered with Stud Book South Africa and the Boran Breeders' Society of South Africa.

The focus from the outset was to secure the finest Boran genetics available in South Africa and build a registered stud through disciplined sire and female selection. Every breeding decision centred on practical performance, fertility, adaptability and long-term genetic value.

Rather than pursuing numbers, Princess Boran focused on producing registered Boran cattle suited to both stud breeding programmes and commercial operations. Today, these genetics continue to benefit breeders locally and internationally while strengthening crossbreeding programmes that improve beef production efficiency.

Meybor Boran

The Meybor Boran programme, founded in 2007, played a pioneering role in the development of Boran genetics in South Africa.

Recognising the breed's exceptional suitability for African conditions, Meybor invested heavily in elite donor females and advanced embryo transfer programmes to establish an outstanding genetic foundation.

The programme incorporated renowned Kenyan bloodlines, including Mogwooni, Waragus and Solio, which became recognised for fertility, maternal strength, adaptability and consistent performance under demanding production conditions.

Every generation reflected the same philosophy: exceptional genetics are developed through patience, discipline and uncompromising selection.

The Formation of QT Boran

In 2024, Princess Boran acquired the Meybor Boran stud, bringing two established breeding programmes together to form QT Boran.

The result was far more than the merger of two herds. It combined decades of breeding knowledge, elite genetics, proven maternal lines and a shared commitment to continuous genetic improvement.

Today, every breeding decision is made with a clear purpose: to produce fertile females, functional bulls and genetics that deliver measurable value in commercial production systems.

Our cattle are selected for:

  • Fertility and maternal excellence
  • Adaptability to diverse environments
  • Structural correctness and longevity
  • Growth and production efficiency
  • Functional performance under practical farming conditions

LOOKING AHEAD

Breeding is not measured in seasons. It is measured in generations.

As custodians of these genetics, we recognise that every generation must be stronger than the last. That responsibility guides every mating, every selection and every investment we make.

By combining proven bloodlines with disciplined selection and a practical approach to beef production, QT Boran continues to honour its heritage while building a herd that contributes to the future of Boran breeding throughout Southern Africa and beyond.
